ORB does works well and it is nice to have your collection of TV and Movies with you on the go. But it is not a very well polish S/W for sure. One of the more annoying “features” is its build in media database.
There are no build in tools to check or to repair the database and the file does get corrupted from time to time. Newly add files won’t show up in the play list if the file is corrupted (or most likely when ORB think it is corrupted). ORB support staff will always tell you to uninstall and reinstall ORB to rebuild the database, which is a painful process.
Here is what you can do to avoid the install/uninstall route.
You will need to have at least 2 accounts for his to works.
- Open ORB’s Control panel on the PC where the ORB Server is running and log into the secondary account.
- Once you are in, delete the first account from the computer which has the corrupted database.
- Add the account back to the system and re-setup the directory mapping.
This will force ORB to re-build the media database.
