iPhone 4 Voice Control List

iPhone support basic voice control for some time now but for some reason the command list is not well publish.

To start the voice control

  • From iPhone – Hold the home button for 2 seconds.
  • From a wire headset – Hold the middle button for 2 seconds.
  • From a Bluetooth headset – Refer to your headset manual to see how to enable “Phone build in voice command”.  Some older Bluetooth headset does not support this and will require you to use the home button on the iPhone.

Phone Call Commands

Call someone in your contact list. You can add phone number type, such as “home”, “work”, “mobile”

“Call <contact name>”. Example “Call  John Smith Mobile”.

Dial a  number “Dial <numbers>. Example “Dial 555 1212”.

Music Control Commands

Play music “Play music”
Play music from a  playlist “Play playlist <list name>”
Play music from album “Play album <album name>”
Play music from a artist “Play artist <name>”
Pause music “Pause music”
Play Next Song “Next song”
Play Previous song “Previous Song”
Shuffle Play “Shuffle”
Play similar song (aka Genius) “Play more songs like this”
General Song information “What’s playing”
Specific song information “Who sings this song”. “What song is this”

Other Commands

Found out the time “What time is it”
Stop a voice command “Cancel” or “Stop”
Help “Help”
